Speed GPS is a mobile application that displays your position, speed, altitude and the navigation satellites visible from your device. It can also record a trip and export it.
In short: This app creates no account, shows no advertising, contains no analytics, and sends your data to no server belonging to the developer. Your positions, trips and measurements stay on your phone.
Speed GPS is published by Atria.Eponym, an individual developer based in France. Contact: atria.eponym@gmail.com
The app reads the following from your device, only while you are using it:
All of it. These readings are shown on screen and, if you start a recording, held in memory for the duration of the trip. Also stored locally:
Uninstalling the app erases preferences, waypoints and history. GPX files you exported are yours and remain on your device: only you decide whether to keep, delete or share them.
Only three features require a connection, and you should know exactly which.
1. Nearby place names. To show the names of towns around you, the app sends your coordinates to the geocoding service built into Android, provided by Google on most devices. That processing is then governed by Google's privacy policy. Offline, this feature simply reads "offline" and the rest of the app keeps working.
2. Map imagery. Displaying the map downloads aerial imagery from Google Maps, or from Esri when Google Maps is unavailable on your device. That request reveals to the provider the area you are viewing, as any online map does. It is governed by that provider's privacy policy.
3. Supporting development, if you choose to. Tapping the donation button opens the Google Play payment, without leaving the app. The payment is handled entirely by Google: the app never sees your payment details, and no data from the app is sent in the process — not your position, not your trips. That payment is governed by Google Play's terms and privacy policy. This feature is entirely optional and unlocks nothing in the app.
Apart from these three cases, nothing leaves your device. The 3D globe, the sky view, the satellites, the sensors and trip recording all work entirely offline.
The publisher runs no server and receives none of your data, so there is no database to protect, no password to steal, and no breach that could happen on the publisher's side.
You can withdraw these permissions at any time in Android settings. The corresponding features then stop displaying, without affecting the rest.
The General Data Protection Regulation grants you rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection over your personal data. With this app these are exercised directly on your device: the developer holds no data about you, and therefore has nothing to disclose or erase. To remove everything, uninstall the app and delete any GPX files you exported.

This app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data concerning them.
This policy may change if the app changes. The last update date appears at the top of this page. Any substantial change will be noted in the release notes.
